The pixies

Thanks for the tips on the pixies folks.

I was going to let them out, but just like the chap at the store said, they were mega pixies, actually mega wasn't the word for them, they were huge, seems like the micro chips must be very fattening.

So they are still in there.

Cruelty to Pixies

Well it was a visit to the Big City yesterday, visit to the hospital which went well.

We did a lot of Christmas shopping as well, as good as done in one day which was nice.

Anyway I decided to treat myself to one of these modern  telephones, good god that salesman must have thought I was a dippy, okay I'm not completely compliant with the modern phones, but come on, he was telling me they have a camera incorporated in them!

What on earth will they think of next.

But hold on a minute, even I could see straight away that the phone wasn't big enough to get a roll of film inside it, anyway he then tells me the camera is digital and has 10 pixies in it and doesn't need a film, okay if it's true then that is amazing, but come on if that is the case then that is sheer cruelty, what have the pixies done to deserve that.

Anyway me being what I am, tonight I am going to remove the back from the camera and let the pixies out, after all it is Christmas.

the dreaded winter months

It's now the time of year I don't like, dark, cold and damp, yuk.

But it won't stop me from working on new ideas for next years Miniature Fairs.

The above is one of my one off sets, 5 hand turned bottles with copies of old labels, the majority of my labels are now designed by myself.

This milk of magnesia label is one of my own designs (the 'Harvington Miniatures' part does not come on my bottles) this and many other labelled hand turned bottles were very popular at the new Midland Fair, a fair which is definitely on my list of must do's for next year, Nov 18th 2012.

Must say I had a very good day at the Fair and all the customers seemed to be enjoying themselves too.

 A lot more bottles and other miniatures will be added to my range for next years fairs and if all goes well I hope to be back on the road in March.

As I was asked quite a few times about half scale on Sunday I now working on some 1/24th bottles which will be added to my range for next years fairs, am quite pleased with the way these are going, these little ones measure under 1/2" tall.

almost ready

Just a small selection of what will be on my table 'Harvington Miniatures' on Sunday 20th November at the Chateau Impney Hotel in Droitwich, this is a new fair with many established and recognised miniaturists displaying their work.

Already there is a buzz of excitement for this one, if you can make it then do come along.

If you do then please come and say hello at stand 95.

For me, all that remains is to pack my boxes and I will be ready.

But I won't be standing idle, I shall be making a few last minute miniatures, perhaps another pair of quirky goblets like the ones in the photograph.

something old something NEW

Photo above is just a small selection of our new range, more will be revealed at our next fair which is in Droitwich on November 20th.

Anyone who saw our old stand and miniatures may be a little surprised when they see the new stand, we have diversified quite a lot, many many new items have been added to our range.

The medicine bottles above and along with a lot more are all unique, all hand turned by myself, the labels I have also designed, plus they don't fall off.

A good point of our bottles is they all stand perfectly, none are lopsided.

Our stand only contains miniatures that we have made ourselves, nothing is bought in.

We are now working on our own jars which will be filled with pickles and much much more.

something new

Only four weeks now till my next fair, November 20th at Droitwich and still busy busy busy making stock.

And it is a complete change of display from my last fair, having always concentrated on paintings I have moved on a little, as you may have seen from my previous blogs there will be a lot of turnings as well as a new range of bottles and jars such as the four shown above, been having fun making these and also designing my own labels.

Oh and some new doorstops as well.

Latest news is that my work is being featured in Dolls House & Miniature Scene magazine which goes on sale on October 27th.

The incense burner above I have turned from a lovely piece of Brazilian rosewood, possibly the nicest turning I have so far produced. 

Am busy busy busy in the workshop preparing for my next fair, November 20th at Droitwich. 

Anyone who has seen my fair table before will see a huge difference now, spent all summer working on new items and had to change the display as a result.

Also my work is to be featured in the Dolls House and Miniature Scene magazine which is due out at the end of this month.
